Butts County

Know all men by these presents that we Thomas J. Saunders, Simon H. Saunders,
and Richard Barlow are held and firmly bound unto John McCord clerk of the Court
of Ordinary of said county, and his successors in office, in the sum of thirty
thousand dollars, to the payments of which, well and truly to be made, we bind
ourselves over heirs, executors and administrators of us and each of us firmly
by these presents.  Subscribed with our hands, and sealed with our seals this
22nd day of April 1844.  The condition of the above obligation is such that
whereas the above bound Thomas J. Saunders has this day applied to the said John
McCord, clerk of the court of Ordinary for, and has obtained temporary letters
of administration of the goods and chattels, rights and credits of Abner
Bankston deceased.  Now if the above bound Thomas J. Saunders shall carefully
collect and preserve from waste or loss, all the goods, chattels and effects of
the said Abner Bankston deceased, and shall make or cause to be made a true and
perfect inventory of all such estate, and the same being so preserved to
surrender up such estate and effects with the inventory aforesaid, unto the
legal and proper administration, on or by the first Monday in August next, or so
soon thereafter as the court of ordinary shall direct, with all his other
acting’s and doing therein, then this obligation to be void, otherwise to remain
in full force n law.
