Know all men by these presents that (?) Frances Studman  and John Kimbrough are 
held and firmly bond unto the honorable the Justices of the Inferior Court of 
said County, sitting for Ordinary purposes and their successors  in office, in 
the sum of five hundred dollars, for the payment, will and truly to be made, we 
bind ourselves, our heirs, executors, and administrators , jointly, severally, 
firmly by these presents.  Sealed with our seals and dated this sixteenth day 
of May, Eighteen Hundred and Forty Four.

The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the court aforesaid 
has this day bound unto the said Frances Studman an illegitimate of said county 
by the name of Malinda, (a just born ??) coloured child of Elizabeth Mayfield, 
of the age of about five years for sixteen years or until she shall arrive at 
the age of twenty one.  Now if the said Frances Studman shall treat use, and 
deal with the said apprentice agreeable to the law in such case.  Made and 
provided, then the above obligation to be void or else remain in full force and 
virtue.
