GA, Court House - Will Book A Written: January 8 1855 Recorded: July 10 1856 STATE OF GEORGIA BURKE COUNTY In open court this day Hon. Edward Garlick Ordinary of said county personally came Joseph A. Shewmake and Jane Lasseter Executor and Executrix of William Lasseter late of said county deceased and produced the said court the last Will and Testament of said deceased and the codicil of said Will annexed and dated the fourteenth day of December A.D. Eighteen Hundred and fifty four and Jane Bryant one of the witnesses to said Will and codicil which witness being duly sworn deposeth and saith that she saw William Lasseter the Tesator sign seal declare and publish the instrument now presented as his last Will and codicil freely voluntarily and of his own accord and without any compulsion or influence whatever that at the time of the Execution of said Will and at the time of the Execution of said codicil and Testator was of sound and disposing mind and memory that deponent signed said Will and said codicil as a witness in the presence of the Testator and of his special instance and request and that Tilman Douglas and John L. Smith signed said will as witnesses in the presence of said Tesator and at his special instance and request and that they and deponent signed the said will as witnesses in the presence of each other and that Davis B. Tabb and John Thompson signed said codicil as witnesses in the presence of said Testator and at his special instance and request and that they and deponent signed said codicil as witnesses in the presence of each other also. Sworn to and subscribed in open court this 8th day January 1855 Jane Bryant X her mark Edward Garlick OBC The last Will and Testament and codicil dated December the fourteenth A.D. Eighteen Hundred and fifty four of William Lasseter late of Burke County deceased having affixed Joseph A. Shewmake and Jane Lasseter Executor and Executrix thereof and duly proven. It is a motion ordered that the said Will and said Codicil be admitted to record and Letters Testamentary be issued to the said Executor and Executrix therein appointed. GEORGIA BURKE COUNTY Annexed Codicil to amend a part of the provisions of the above or annexed Will as follows: I desire that the share of property coming the children of my deceased Son John P. Lasseter shall be received from my representatives by my Son Orrin D. Lasseter who shall act as trustee for them over said property and keep said property in his possession for them to let them have the net proceeds of the same annually and as they come of age each one is to draw his or her share of the said property from him the said Orrin D. or his successor. We the undersigned heard the above read and heard him say it was his will as above stated. Edward Garlick OBC STATE OF GEORGIA BURKE COUNTY ORDINARY OFFICE, JUNE 30th 1856 I do hereby certify that the foregoing to be a true copy of the last Will and Testament of William Lasseter deceased as taken from a duly certified copy of said Will as ordinary of this County made by me before and previous to the late fire of the 24th January last when the Court House of said County was destroyed by fire and with all the Records of the Court of Ordinary of said County.
