AGED COUUPLE HAD CLOSE CALL

Buggy Hit by Passenger Train Monday

Occupants are Injured

Mr. and Mrs. S. B. Moss badly shaken up in accident at Jenkinsburg at an early 
hour Monday night.

Mr. and Mrs. S. B. Moss, residents of Henry county, were seriously injured 
Monday night, when the buggy in which they were riding was struck by 
southbound passenger  train No.28, just above Jenkinsburg.

Mr. Moss was injured about the head and face, while Mrs. Moss was also injured 
about the head and face and otherwise bruised.  The train stopped and picked 
up Mr. and Mrs. Moss and brought them to Jackson where they were given medical 
attention   They were taken to the Buchanan Hotel and the local Southern 
Railway physician was summoned and they are being given every medical 
attention.

It seems that Mr. Moss was attempting to cross the railroad track a short 
distance above Jenkinsburg when the southbound passenger train hit the buggy, 
throwing the occupants to the ground.  The train was slowing up for the stop 
at Jenkinsburg, and this fact alone probably accounts for the accident being 
no more serious.  Had the train been running at full speed both Mr. and Mrs. 
Moss would likely have been killed outright.

The injuries received are both painful and serious.  Last reports state they 
are doing as well as could be expected and it is said they have a chance to 
recover
