That no one shall ride a bicycle on the side walks in said town at a greater speed than six miles an hour, that is to say, the fait of a horse in a moderate trot. 2. Each rider of a bicycle shall provide his or her bicycle with a bell, and all who ride after twilight shall provide a lamp or lantern and have it lit. 3. In no case shall any one ride a bicycle on the side walks on the public square fronting the stores. 4. When approaching any person on the side walk from the front or behind, the bell shall be rung as a signal, and the rider slow up until the person or persons is passed. 5. On approaching any crossing or corner, the rider must ring the bell and slow up until the crossing or corner is passed. 6. Any person or persons violating any section of the foregoing five sections of this ordinance shall on conviction before the mayor, be fined in a sum not less than one dollar, nor more than five dollars, or be confined in the calaboose to be worked on the streets not less than one day, nor longer than ten days. One or both in the discretion of the mayor, all ordinances in conflict with this ordinance is hereby repealed. Approved April 13th, 1897 Joseph Jolly, Clerk. B. P.
