Jackson Argus – Week Of March 25, 1897 March 25, 1897
Another Negro killing took place out in Towaliga on last Saturday night.   One
Vossa Lee shot Bill Ridgeway and Bill died Monday.   Vossa is in a dying
condition and may be dead at this writing.   Bill cut him into mince meat with a
pocket knife.   Bishop Turner’s advice to negroes to arm themselves is being
obeyed in Towaliga.   We have not learned yet which negro will kill the other
out there next week.
