At noon the baskets and trunks filled with good things prepared by the head of he different families were brought to an extensive table that had been prepared under some venerable oaks that tower majestically in the yard, the contents were spread on this table until it groaned under the weight, and not more than half of those receptacles had been touched. Diner was announced, guests consisting of 116 souls, partook of this sumptuous repast. There were present 39 distant relatives and friends and 77 of the immediate family. In addition to these there is a son in a distant state whose family numbers four, which makes 81 now living and 24 dead, making a family of 105. Among them are three pairs of twins all of whom were present on this occasion, two pairs are grand children and one pair of great grand children. This couple, though so aged, are stout and active, doing their own work, cultivating a small farm from which they obtain a good living, which proves that the honest tiller of the soil is the sinew and back bone of our country, for their products are the basis on which all other enterprises depend and from them generally comes the purest and best citizens of our land. May the God in whom they trusted and served so long lead them gently down the slope of time and spare them for witness many more reunions with their friends and loved ones. Clarrissa.
