The mayor and City Attorney Mills claiming that the road is not erecting the depot according to the plans submitted and accepted before he State Railroad Commissioners. Supt. Bankston is in charge of the construction, and Wednesday afternoon the mayor went to Supt. to see his plans for by which he was erecting the building. Upon investigation it was found that several changes had been made, and Chairman Crenshaw, of the commissioners, was notified that the railroad was not erecting the building in accordance to the plains accepted by the city. Changes were made in the arrangements of the white an colored waiting rooms and platform space. The railroad commissioners gave the southern until March 1st to have depot ready for occupancy, but now it will be at least sixty days before the building will be completed. The remodeling improvements as stated before the commissioners by the Southern will cost about $2,000, and if erected according to plans already accepted Jackson will have commodious depot facilities. Our citizens will watch with interest this fight over plans for the depot between our mayor and Southern officials, and a lively scrimmage is expected.
