The doctor had been removing corns here for several days and on Saturday he went to Jennie Fitch, a thrifty colored woman, and told here that as there would be large crowd in town on Saturday he wanted to get her horse and buggy for the occasion. He wanted to stand in the buggy and make a speech. The team was secured and instead of making his speech the “doctor” filled up on “bug juice” and hied away. He spent the night in Iron Springs district and was captured at Indian Springs on Sunday. When arrested he was on his way to Forsyth. Stanchfield has a preliminary trial before Judge Robison and was remanded to mail in default of a $100 bond under section 225 of the new criminal code. When Sheriff Beauchamp got back with the “Dr.” and his turnout Jennie Fitch was one happy Negro.
