The application we learn will state that the franchise is desired for a period of 20 years and under the franchise no one will be bound to patronize the concern unless he wishes to do so. In other words the privilege is simply asked to wire the town and then sell the lights to whosoever shall find it profitable to buy. This is equitable and as similar franchise has already been granted to a foreign corporation, and as under our charter exclusive franchise can be granted to no one, we take it as a matter of course that application for franchise privileges will be granted, and we believe that this will mean electric lights for Jackson at an early date. This is a step forward, and it is one that indicates growth on the part of Jackson and enterprise on the part of her citizens.
