Argus – Week of April 29, 1892 The engine on the Indian Spring & Flovilla railroad was wrecked on yesterday about one o’clock. The engine was conveying a Central railroad car of lumber over to the Springs and in going down the hill approaching the town the brakes gave way and the train became unmanageable. The crew all jumped for their lives and the engine and train rushed of at breakneck speed down the hill to the end of the road where it jumped off breaking the freight car into pieces and driving in the head of the engine. The damage will be heavy. It is with sincere regrets that we hear of this mishap to the pet road and trust it will be repaired at once. Hacks will take its place to convey passengers to and from the Spring till the road is put in running order again.
