Argus – Week of March 17, 1893 Mr. A. P. McClure, an old man living near Seven Island in this county, is wearing a set of coat buttons that have been in constant use for forty-five years. Away back before the war, while Mr. H. N. Byars was selling goods at Indian Springs this gentleman, bought of him these six brass coat buttons. He used them successfully on different coats till the war began and then had them put on his war coat and wore them through that four years struggle. Since the war he has worn them constantly and they are yet apparently as good as new. These buttons are certainly relics of the long ago and no doubt they will be carried on down through many generations.
