Argus – Week of February 9, 1892 Capt. W. F. Smith, the indefatigable worker to develop Butts County resources, is having a railroad surveyed from a point just above town to the Cedar Rock hills three miles north of Jackson. We learn that some large capitalist are at the back of the scheme and that the prospects are very favorable for a large quarry to be opened there in a short time. This granite is noted far and near as being very fine and we would be highly pleased to see it worked. Capt. W. F. Smith has great faith in the enterprise and knowing his indomitable energy as we do we can safely predict it to become a success.
