Argus – Week of October 26, 1893 Bartow Head, of Jasper County, was arrested near town on Monday by Deputy U. S. Marshal George White. Mr. Head has been accused of peddling moonshine over the country, and especially in Jackson, for some time, and the authorities have had their eye on him. Early Monday morning the Marshall started to head’s home to make the arrest, and had gone but a mile from town when he met his man coming toward Jackson with a keg of corn liquor in his buggy. He took charge of them both and carried them on to Jackson, where they were placed in the county jail until Tuesday morning and thencarried to Macon.
