Argus – Week of November 15, 1894 The case of the state against Will Myers, for the murder of Forrest Crowley, results, as might have been expected, in a verdict of guilty. It was one of the most depraved and cold-blooded murders for the sake of robbery that was ever perpetrated, and the evidence against the condemned man from the beginning was overwhelming. There cannot be a reasonable doubt in the mind of any man who is familiar with the evidence of the absolute guilt of Will Myers. Even if hi statement is to be believed in part, and another than he committed the deed, his reception of part of the spoils of the bloody tragedy, his effort to sell the mules of the man he knew had been murdered, his flight and concealment of the crime, connect him with it in such a way as to make him equally as guilty in law as the real assassin, whoever he may have been in as far as it goes, to sustain the proposition that he was an aider and abettor in the murder. But the evidence points conclusively to the fact that Will Myers, and Will Myers alone concocted and consummated the crime, which was as revolting in cruelty and barbarous wickedness as any brutal tragedy ever recorded upon the pages of history. In the verdict of the jury and the sentence to be pronounced by the court he meets a just doom.
