Middle Ga. Argus – Week of February 1, 1894
Last week at McDonough, Walter Carmichael shot and killed a young man by the 
name of Westbrooks.  It seems that the trouble arose from a drunken dispute 
between the two boys which resulted in murder.  A commitment trial was given 
Carmichael in McDonough on Tuesday.  Col. Wright of Jackson made a most 
eloquent appeal to the jury in favor of Westbrook, and beyond all reason of a 
doubt Carmichael will be bound over for murder.
