Argus – December 1894 Mr. Thornton was born in Butts county in 1863. He was raised on his father’s farm in three miles of Jackson. He married Miss Laura Thornton of Tennessee and moved to Jackson in 1891, going into the livery and sale business. Mr. Thornton has made his mark in business circles of our town and is now doing the leading livery business of Jackson. Having lived in Tennessee and formed the acquaintance of stock raisers, and besides having relatives there, gives him an advantage over others in dealing in stock, and those who trade with him get the benefit of these advantages. Our people are beginning to realize these facts and when they want to buy or trade for stock of any kind they naturally think of Thornton’s livery and feed stables. He is a clever and congenial gentleman and makes everyone of his customers feel that he is their friend. We predict unbounded success for Mr. Thornton for he is in a true sense a careful and competent business man, and we tender him our unqualified desire for his future success and happiness.
