We learn the Negro that got shot lay out on the ground all night and was found by some white men who happened to pass that way early this morning. Jackson Argus – Week of January 11,1895 A white man who was at the Negro frolic where Lummus was killed, was asked by the coroner why he ran so when the row commenced. He replied, that the reason he was so was because he could not fly.
