Jackson News – Week of January 25, 1882
As the News had a local of the incident, the following has been handed us for 
publication”

A young lady put upon the Christmas tree, a bottle of whiskey and a pack of 
cards for a young gentleman.  The young gentleman was a witness before the 
Grand Jury of Buts county when there were several presentments against parties 
for violating the laws, and I “speck” the young lady’s papa or buddie were 
among the violators.
