Jackson, News – Week of January 11, 1882
A suspicious mulatto was arrested here several days ago and lodged in the 
Jackson jail, on the charge of horse stealing.   A fine horse was found in his 
possession and after making several contradictory statement concerning it, the 
authorities thought best to lock him up till further developments.   The owner 
of the horse, a railroad man has claimed him.
