Jackson News – Week of August 9, 1882
The first boat on the Ocmulgee sailed for Macon, Monday last.   The following is
a list of officers in charge: Henderson Duke, Captain; Thos. J. McMichael,
Treasurer; Thos. Redmond, Engineer; Wm. Shields, Fireman and Cook McCord, Clerk.

We wish the party a pleasant trip and a safe return.   Lookout, fish, squirrels,
possums, and ducks and game generally, for the enemy is coming.
