Jackson Argus – Week of September 20, 1895
Out near Elgin last Friday night at a Negro dance, Louis Etheridge shot Audy
Barner.   The wounds made were slight, however, and the wounded Negro is at work
again.

The row arose over a dispute as to which Negro should accompany an ebony damsel
home.
