Jackson Argus – Week of January 6, 1896
Sheriff Beauchamp would make a first rate New York detective.   Again he has
hitched up with a murderer.   This time it was the Negro Chas. Jester who
several years ago killed another Negro on Mr. William Hale’s plantation, Tom
Vaughn by name.   He was arrested in Birmingham last Monday.  Our compliments to
the sheriff.
