Clark left a vacancy in the superior court which Jno. S. Candler now fills by appointment of the governor. No better appointment could have been made by the governor than this one. Col. Candler before his appointment was solicitor in the district over which he now presides. Some time ago Col. Candler’s name was being mentioned very favorable for the position of Judge Advocate General of the United States military forces, but Mr. Cleveland saw fit to appoint another. The new judge of the Stone Mountain circuit is a young man considerably under forty but a broadminded and liberal gentleman, well qualified for his new and responsible position. The people of the circuit are fortunate in having such a judge to preside over their legal affairs. Col Candler’s name was one of the first to be presented to the governor and his endorsement was unusually strong. The judge will hold the present place until the legislature meets when he will be a candidate to succeed himself. Judge Candler will hold court next week in DeKalb County. Hon. W. T. Kimsey of Jonesboro will probably succeed Judge Candler as Solicitor.
