Love has manifold ways of accomplishing its desires. It will climb Alpine Heights, span deep abysses and do Herculean labors to overcome the least objections to its fulfillment. It eliminates space and defies interruption. Nothing is comparable to its force, nothing can overcome it. Parental objection is but an inspiration to try the romance afforded by an elopement, cupid is as cruel as fashion carrying out its mandates. Some months ago a very strong affection sprung up between two young people of Jasper county. Mr. Henry Wilson and Miss Lilly Turner. About the time that this affection began to desire a more substantial manifestation parents interposed objections. Nothing daunted, however by this, the young couple planned an elopement. So Miss Turner the bride in question some days ago came to visit Mr. Bob Fears family near Jackson so early Wednesday morning about 1 o’clock Mr. Wilson left his home for that of Mr. Fears. There he secured his bride to be and came on to Jackson. Arriving at Jackson Mr. Wilson at once sought for Mr. Pope at the Star Store and related to him his elopement and asked Mr. Pope to get a minister at once if not sooner. So Pope who is ever ready to help in such good works rushed up the street for Rev. J. M. Bowden. The ceremony was to have been performed in the millinery room of the Star Store which had been prepared and handsomely decorated for the purpose. The rain however permitted the bride from coming down from Mr. J. G. Thompson’s where she had been carried by her lover. So the ceremony was performed by Rev. J. M. Bowden at Mr. Thompson’s residence, Sherrod Pope an a few others. After the ceremony the happy couple departed for their home in Jasper count to tell the story of their love and marriage to the old folks.
