Andrew Hightower Used the Knife That Laid Him Out.

A negro fandawgo(?) on the plantation of Mr. R. W. Aiken near Elgin on Saturday 
night a row occurred in which Bob Jester was killed by another Negro named 
Andrew Hightower.  Jester’s throat was cut and he died instantly.  Hightower 
made good his escape and has not yet been arrested.

No just cause is assigned for the act more than the common hot blood of a young 
negro when he imagined he has been assaulted by a colored fellow.  It will 
require a few more hanging to settle such matters in Butts county.
