Jackson Argus – Week Of July 30, 1896 July 30, 1896
The house of Ida Foster, colored came near being destroyed by fire out at
Pepperton last Saturday night.

The parents went off and left their children in the house and it was set on fire
by them in some way.   The house was not entirely consumed but everything in the
house was ruined by water and rough handling in an attempt to save the contents.
