Butts County Progress January 1909
Lizzie Burford and Katie Chafin in Razor Fight

In a jealous fit Lizzie Burford slashed Katie Chafin, another negress up with 
a razor Friday afternoon, inflicting a number of ugly wounds about the face 
and neck and body.  About fifty stitches were taken in sewing up the cuts.

The trouble began about the husband of one of the principals, the other 
charging interference with domestic affairs.  Jealousy is said to have been 
the cause of the cutting.  The Chafin woman was cut in a number of places; the 
cloak she wore was literally cut to shreds.

Lizzie Burford was arrested but arranged bond.  The trouble will be aired in 
court.
