So far all has not been smooth sailing with this white labor. On the first party that came quite a number left the camps last week and scattered over the surrounding country. They were caught when they tried to escape and were taken back and out to work. The contractors are out the amount of their transportation from New York, about $18.00, when they leave without working out the amount advanced to bring them south. Despite the fact that these people have been leaving in considerable numbers recently, still others have been secured. Last week Sheriff W.W. Wilson assisted in arresting several of them. One party was caught in Griffin and held for the officers here.
