Jackson Argus – Week Of November 5, 1896 November 5, 1896
Dr. R. W. Mays is fitting out his old building known as May’s Hall, into a new
opera house.   He is having fine scenery put in and his floor will be raised in
the rear and elevated to an angle of about 45 degrees.

This is something Jackson has long needed and we are glad this addition to the
city has been made.
