Dr. Mapp heard the hog squeal and got to the pen just after the thief had left with his booty. He was tracked by the blood into the southern part of town but the culprit could not be spotted. This is certainly a bold transaction, and such a man should be hanged. On the same night an attempt was made to kill one of Mr. T. J. Dempsey’s fine porkers but after cutting the hog’s throat in a fearful manner was frightened away. These deadbeats should be apprehended and put where the dogs can not find them.
