Mr. Clem Towles paid the fine and Hammond was put under contract to work out the time on Towles farm. Towles claimed that Hamond failed to fulfill his part of the contract and turned him over to the sheriff on last Tuesday. The case was tried before Judge Carmichael on Thursday and Towles charges were sustained, and Hammond will be required to serve the remainder of his sentence in the chain gang.
