Saturday Night Fight

Two colored gents got into a fight near Towaliga on last Saturday night in 
which one broke a bottle of whiskey over the other’s head.  Though badly 
wounded, skin deep, he will probably get well.  Dr. Thaxton dressed the 
wounds.  The people of this county remember that a bottle whiskey played a 
prominent part in the McNair tragedy, and the discussion of our recent court 
shows that a bottle whiskey will lead a man to the gallows.  The taxpayers will 
feel it more and more as long as whiskey is sold.  How strange that our good 
people don’t take the monster by the throat and down it at once.
