Will Pettigrew

Will Pettigrew, a colored boy about 17 years of age is sleeping in the county 
jail.  One day last week he forged an order on Dr. R. G. Bryans for four 
dollars and presented it to Dr. Barnes’, at Dr. Bryans’ drugstore for payment.  
Dr. Barnes at once detected that it was a forgery and Pettigrew was arrested.  
He was carried before Judge Baily of the county court and sentenced to the 
chain gang for ten months.
