Argus – Week of June 15, 1882 Mr. Charles Foster called at Dr. Thaxtons a few days ago, and hitched his fine horse in front of the gate, without unloosing from the buggy. He became frightened at something, dashed off with the buggy, running one mile before he extricated himself from the buggy, after which, he ran about one mile further, to the residence of Mr. Wm. Hale; here he turned towards the house, the children having left the yard gate open he dashed in at break neck speed; and in to the veranda; Mrs. H. seeing the horse coming, slammed the door too, in time to prevent him entering the house, striking the door, the horse slipped and fell on the floor where it remained until Mr. H. could be summoned from the field and remove it from its prostate position.
