Middle Ga. Argus – Week of November 16, 1882
Last night Gus Goodman (col) who has been on the hide-out for some time past, 
concluded he would pay a visit to his wife while our sheriff was quietly 
sleeping over his warrants.  On reaching his house in this place he found that 
another gentleman of color had robbed him of his “bed and board”.  Not 
receiving a response to his tap on the door, he proceeded to make his entrance 
through a window and was met by the intruder, who fired upon him, the ball 
taking effect in the neck, producing a painful wound.  Both parties were 
arrested and lodged in jail.
