When the train arrived here it was crowded, and when the eighty odd passengers boarded the cars, every available space was taken up. On the return trip, a lot of drunken hoodlums took possession of the train from Cork to Jackson. A general row ensued between a crowd of drunken negroes and white men, in which one white man was badly cut, knives and pistols being the principal weapons used in the fight. From Flovilla to this city, the train resembled an armed train in a running fight, with a drunken man at nearly every window shooting is pistol and making the welkin ring. One white man came near being dashed headlong from a window for shooting his pistol in the face of a lady. It was one of the most disgraceful scenes witnessed on the Southern road.
