Mr. Allen was a Confederate veteran and the comrades left will regret to hear of his death, reminding them, as it does, that their numbers will soon be entirely obliterated. He had been incapacitated to do manual labor for a number of years, but almost one of his last acts was to render what assistance he could in the fatal Camp creek wreck and though his work here may never be fully known, it will be secretly recorded to his credit. The Weekly joins the friends in extending sympathy to the bereaved family. His remains were laid to rest in the Bethany cemetery. Peace to his ashes – Henry County Weekly. The deceased was a brother of Mr. W. J. Allen of this place.
