The Rev. R C Cleckler officiated. Burial was in Jackson, Ga. Miss Dempsey was a teacher in the Atlanta public schools for nearly two decades. At the time of her death she held a position in the English department of Girls' High School. She taught in schools throughout the state and was at one time superintendent of the city schools of Buena Vista, Ga. In this capacity she attracted much attention as one of the first women in the state of Georgia to hold such an important post. She was a member of the Methodist Church. I found this in my mother's papers. Miss Dempsey was her favorite teacher at Girls' High.
