Argus – Week of April 5, 1892 The remains of Capt. C. W. Slaton of Griffin was brought to this place yesterday and laid to rest in the cemetery at 2 o’clock. On their arrival they were taken in charge by St. John Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons and laid away according to the rites of that ancient and honored order. Capt. Slaton was raised in this place and did a mercantile business here after the war for several years. About twenty years ago he moved to Griffin and has been in the cotton warehouse business there for quite a while. At the time of his death was fifty six years of age.
