To the Worshipful Master, Wardens and members of St. John’s Lodge No. 45 F. & 
A. M.

Death, the leveler of all things mortal, has again invaded the sacred domain of 
this our earthly tabernacle and with his ruthless and unrelenting hand has 
taken form our household, to be transplanted in the home beyond, our brother C. 
W. Slaton, who was aged at the time of his demise fifty six years.
