Pettigrew, we can but feel a deep sorrow while submitting to the will of him “who does all things well.” Our brother was in war a brave soldier, in peace a quiet, unoffending citizen. His whole aim in life was to do to others, as he would have them do to him. He was a model husband, a kind and obliging neighbor, a meek and humble Christian; therefore, be it Resolved 1st, In death of Brother Pettigrew our Lodge has lost one of its most faithful and useful members. Resolved 2nd, That a blank page be left to his memory o the minutes of the Lodge, and that the members wear the usual badge for 30 days. Resolved 3rd, That the sympathies of the Lodge be tendered his bereaved family, to whom the secretary is requested to furnish a copy of these resolutions. Resolved 4th, That the Jackson Argus be requested to publish these resolutions. M. V. McKibben, Y. A. Wright, E. E. Pounds, J. H. McCallum, Committee Jackson Argus – Week of February 8, 1895 ……………………………………………………………………… Mr. J. H. Pettigrew, one of our best citizens, died at his residence, in this county last week. Mr. Pettigrew was an exemplary mason and beloved by his lodge. He leaves a wife, several children and relatives, as well a host of friends to mourn his loss, Mr. Pettigrew was not an old man, but has been in bad health for a number of years, life frequently being a burden to him. Our loss is his eternal gain , and we should not weep too bitterly.
