Empire State – Spalding County – Week of June 11, 1856
Died in Jackson, on Sunday morning, June 1st, after a long and truly painful 
illness, Kate, youngest daughter of Col. D. J. and Susan M. Bailey, age 2 years 
and 6 months.  The disease seemed to be of a complicated nature and well 
calculated to baffle the skill of the most experienced; but still hopes of her 
recovery was entertained until a few days prior to her death
