Argus – Week of February 16, 1892 H. O. Benton It is with regrets that we are called upon to mention the death of our old friend H. O. Benton. After several months illness his spirit took its everlasting flight to that “bourne from which none never return” at eight o’clock on Wednesday morning. While he had been failing for several months he was not confined to his bed but a few days prior to his death. He had long been a citizen of Jackson and did much to aid in building up the town by his activity in the real estate business. He was always ready to speak a good word for his town and her people. He was always energetic and was never known to idle a moment away. His remains were laid in their last resting place on Thursday at 3 o’clock by his brethren of the mystic tie after a funeral at the Baptist church, conducted by Rev. J. T. Kimbell. An unusually large number of friends attended Some not legible……………but states he had four daughters, all married and he was 67 years old. Middle Ga.
