Jackson Argus - Wk of Aug 18 & 25, 1899
Harkness

A little 18 months old child of Mr. Latin Harkness was scaled last Friday and 
died on Sunday.   A Negro girl was pouring hot water out of a kettle when the 
kettle fell and the baby sitting near by was burned with the hot water.

The burial occurred Monday at Fellowship cemetery.

Layton Harkness

Mr. and Mrs. Layton Harkness had the misfortune to lose their infant girl on 
last Sunday morning.   The little child was accidentally scaled on Saturday 
morning.   Bereaved parents have our sympathy.
