J. Jinks – Resolution St. Johns Lodge, No. 45, F.& A.M. Your committee to draft resolutions expressive of our sentiment and sorrow at our sad loss in the death of Bro. B. J. Jinks, beg to say: We recognize that death comes to us all. Father Time with his scy (?) the spares none. All must be brought to the same level. We bow to the divine will, for God is good and His mercy endureth forever. Our brother is gone, yet it is a happy thought, that he lives. His deeds live after him. They were of such a character as commend his example to all. He was honest, brave, generous, charitable, and combined all the elements of the true Mason. His faith was well founded, his trust being in God. He lived the tenets of our order. He was a Mason. Burrel, as we familiarly called him, was 58 years of age at the time of his death; was born in Butts county and lived a quiet and peaceable life on his farm. He was our county surveyor at the time of his death, and had filled the office for a number of years. He was true to every trust, had the confidence of his people and was liked by all. What more can we say? He was made a Mason in the lodge some 25 years ago, and walked upright before God and man. Was a consistent member of the Baptist church. We part with him in sorrow. We join with his family in their great grief that he is gone. We miss him at our stated meetings, as he is missed around the fireside at home; yet our loss counts naught compared to his gain. We leave his soul in the hands of God. We cherish his memory. Resolved, That these resolutions be published and a sealed copy furnished his family. Respectfully submitted, Y. A. Wright – J. L.
