Whiskey, blind tigers, lewd woman and pistols resulted in a cod-blooded murder in Pepperton about three o’clock last Saturday morning. Will McDaniel, a young white man, went to the house of a questionable character, where a negro named Will Besley was, for some whiskey, and raised a row. Besley went home, got his gun and came back and shot McDaniel dead. McDaniel is in his grave and Besley is in jail and will probably hang, as the killing is said to have been cold- blooded. The Argus does not furnish details of such low, horrible crimes. Coroner Pelt held an inquest Saturday and the verdict was murder at the hands of Besley. The arrest of Besley was effected by Sheriff J. M. Crawford and his son, Marshal Lawrence Crawford, before day Saturday morning and lodged in Butts County jail.
