Argus – Week of January 19, 1884 Miss Mattie Mills Died in Newnan on 7th of January 1884, Miss Mattie Mills, who was a native of this county, having been born and raised here, but a citizen of Newnan for the past nine or ten years. She was the last descendant of Thos. Mills deceased, who was a citizen of this county for many years and who many of our older citizens will remember. Deceased was an estimable lady, much loved by all who knew her, for her gentleness and purity. A few years since she had submitted to her care little Eva, the only child of a deceased sister, Mrs. Hackney. The tender cares she has bestowed upon this sweet little child should give her memory a dwelling place in the hearts of all. The deceased was a true christian, was perfectly conscious of her approaching death, but fully resigned to meet her fate at the hands of Him whom we all should prepare to meet. Middle Ga. Argus – Week of January 19, 1884 ……………………………………………………………………… It should be indeed a gratifying consolation to the relatives and many friends of Miss Mattie Mills, who recently died at Newnan, Ga. To know, that during her illness she was attended by true and sincere friends, with every care and attention, that pure hearts, and ready hands could bestow; which speaks well for the good people of the beautiful town of Newnan, among whom with justice and thanks to all, we beg leave to mention the name of Mrs. Fannie G. hill her former employer in the millinery business. Miss Mills willed her house and lot and all her effects to little Eva her sister’s child. Middle Ga.
