Middle Ga Argus

Sallie D. Head  

It is with true inward regret that we are called upon today to chronicle the 
death of Mrs. Sallie D. Head, wife of Rev. T. J. Head of Spalding County which 
occurred on Thursday of last week.  Mrs. Head was a daughter of the later Judge 
M. Meritt of Monroe County, and was a lady of rare accomplishments and a true 
model of genuine Christian womanhood.  She had long been a member of the 
Primitive Baptist church, having been baptized into the membership of Liberty, 
in this county on the second Sunday in August 1865, by Rev. J. P. Lyon.   She 
leaves a large family of children; some of whom are quite small, besides a 
grief-stricken husband and a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn her 
loss.  Her remains were buried in the family cemetery of the late Dr. J. D. 
Head at River Side in this county on Saturday.
