Mrs. Ed Edwards - Suicide

Mrs. Ed Edwards, of Smith’s Mills, died last Friday and was buried Sunday in 
the Lindsey cemetery in this district.  It is supposed that she committed 
suicide by taking rough en?rats.   She as been afflicted for a number of years, 
and to put an end to these sufferings, which she had previously born with great 
fortitude it is thought that she committed this fearful act.  The community 
extends sympathy to the bereaved family.

(note: I cannot make out the word of    “rough en?rats”, anyone know what this 
substance  
           could be???)
